The main goals and targets that GBI is planning to accomplish beside other missions and tasks that serve them are:
1-marketing the local production (wheat,barley,paddy) optionally from the farmers at a competitive official prices adopted by the government according to certain terms and instructions that specify the specifications of received grain, These terms and instructionsare approved by the high authorities after coordination with ministry of agriculture to improve and develop the quality of the strategic crop.
2-secure the needs of Iraq of wheat and rice for human consumption by importing them from different origins and of good qualities that meet the Iraqi test and suitable for the bakery of bread.
3-secure the needs of silos from spare parts, equipments, laboratories devices, vaporization and fumigation materials, storage means and packing materials by importing them from different and specialized origins.
4-seccure the strategic stock of grain to Iraq that meet the food security according to central decisions and instructions that issued in this concern, in addition to ensure the safety of grain stock from damages that may accrue as result of natural circumstances and insect infection, rodent.
5-doing and taking all the required actions to test and analyze the local imported grain in addition to fumigation processes to ensure the grain's safety from insect infection, rodents and damages .
